Electric Underfloor Heating

Electric underfloor heating for tile and stone floors. Choose heating mats for square rooms, or loose cable for awkward shapes. Pair it with a floor-sensing Heatmiser thermostat and lay it over insulation or tile backer board so the heat goes up, not down. A qualified electrician must make the final connection. Order by 12pm for next working day UK delivery.

Electric underfloor heating for tiled and stone floors

Electric underfloor heating is the simplest way to add warmth to a single room. It suits kitchens, bathrooms, en-suites and extensions. It's slim, so it fits under tile and stone with almost no change in floor height, and there's no plumbing to connect.

Mats or loose cable? Heating mats have the cable already fixed to a self-adhesive mesh at even spacing, so they're the quickest choice for square and rectangular rooms. Loose cable is laid by hand, usually into uncoupling membrane. It goes around awkward shapes, pedestals and L-shaped rooms where a mat would leave gaps. Our loose cable vs mats guide explains when to use each.

Choose the right output. Our mats come in 100, 150 and 200W/m²:

  • 100W/m² for well-insulated rooms.
  • 150W/m² is the all-rounder.
  • 200W/m² suits conservatories and rooms that lose heat quickly.

Pick the mat closest to your free floor area without going over it, and never cut the heating cable.

Insulate first. Laying tile backer or insulation board under the mat sends the heat up into the room rather than into the subfloor. Rooms warm up faster and cost less to run.

Every electric floor needs a floor-sensing thermostat, and a qualified electrician must make the final connection. Our step-by-step mat installation guide covers the rest.
