Electric underfloor heating mats

Electric underfloor heating mats are the quickest way to heat a tiled or stone floor. The heating cable is fixed to a self-adhesive mesh at an even spacing, so you roll the mat out, cut and turn the mesh (never the cable) to fit the room, and tile over it. Our mats are twin core with a single cold tail, so there's only one connection back to the thermostat.

Which output?

  • 100W/m²: for well-insulated rooms, or as background heat.
  • 150W/m²: the all-rounder for most kitchens and bathrooms.
  • 200W/m²: for conservatories, rooms with large windows and rooms that lose heat quickly.

Which size? Measure the free floor area, leaving out kitchen units, baths, shower trays, WCs and anything else fixed to the floor. Choose the mat closest to that area without going over it.

What else you need.

  • A floor-sensing thermostat and its probe.
  • Insulation or tile backer board underneath, for faster warm-up.
  • Optionally, uncoupling membrane over timber floors.

A qualified electrician must make the final connection. Our mat installation guide and running costs guide cover the rest.
