MaxHeatUFH Electric Underfloor Heating Mat 150W/m²

A 150W/m² electric underfloor heating mat for tile and stone floors. It's a good all-round output for kitchens, bathrooms and conservatories over a well insulated subfloor. The mat is about 3 to 4mm thick and sits in the tile adhesive bed.

Why installers use it

• Fast to lay: twin-core cable on a self-adhesive 0.5m wide fibreglass mesh. Roll it out, cut the mesh (never the cable) and turn it to fit the room.
• One connection: a single 3m cold tail runs back to the thermostat.
• Thin: about 3 to 4mm, so it sits in the tile adhesive bed and the floor height barely changes.
• 230V AC: for a standard domestic supply.

Picking the right size

Measure the free floor area, leaving out kitchen units, baths, shower trays and the toilet. Then choose the mat closest to that figure, without going over it.

• A floor-sensing thermostat: Heatmiser neoStat-e or Heatmiser Slimline-E
• Cement Coated XPS Tile Backer Board to cut heat loss downward, or 6mm Cementitious Tile Backer Board as a tiling base, plus Ultra Prime It Multi-Surface Primer
• Uncoupling Membrane (1m wide roll) on timber or new screed floors

Questions

Can I cut the mat to fit?
Yes, cut the mesh and turn the mat. Never cut the heating cable.

Which output do I need?
150W/m² suits most rooms. For low heat loss rooms such as en-suites, see the 100W/m² mat. For conservatories and rooms with more heat loss, see the 200W/m² mat.

Use a 30mA RCD and install to BS 7671. A qualified electrician must make the final connection.
