Overlay Boards
Low-profile overlay boards for adding underfloor heating over an existing floor with little height gain. The routed boards take the pipe, and some can be tiled straight onto. Use 12mm or 16mm UFH pipe to suit the board. Order by 12pm for next working day UK delivery.
Low-profile underfloor heating for existing floors
Overlay boards let you add water underfloor heating on top of an existing floor without digging it up or laying a new screed. That makes them the go-to choice for renovations, extensions joined to an older house, and any room where floor height is limited. The pipe sits in routed channels in the board, so the floor finish can go down soon after the system is tested.
Which board?
- MaxHeatPanel: routed XPS board you can tile directly onto, for solid floors.
- MaxHeatDeck: cement-faced on both sides for extra strength under tiles.
- MaxHeatPro: foil-faced EPS that spreads heat well under floating floors such as engineered wood and laminate.
- MaxHeatChip: 22mm grooved chipboard, a structural option for timber floors. Use it with a 6mm fibre top board where needed.
Choose 12mm or 16mm pipe to suit the board's grooves.
Plan the height. Add the board, any top layer, adhesive and floor finish together, and check that doors and thresholds still clear.
Our retrofit guide and floor systems guide compare the options. Upload a plan to MaxHeatUFH ProLoop to get a board and pipe quantity.
