MaxHeatUFH is based in Cheshire, so the North West is home. We've supplied underfloor heating for barn conversions in Cheshire, new build developments, a residential development in Manchester and a timber-floored home in the Lake District. Whatever the property, we'll match the system to the floor you've actually got.
North West homes and the right system
- Victorian and Edwardian terraces in Manchester, Liverpool, Preston and Lancaster usually have suspended timber ground floors. Joisted floor systems such as grooved chipboard or spreader plates go between or over the joists with no screed.
- Post-war and modern homes often have solid concrete floors. A low-profile overlay board adds as little as 20mm plus the floor finish.
- Barn conversions and farmhouses across Cheshire, Lancashire and Cumbria are often off the gas grid. A new insulated slab with pipe-in-screed, designed for a heat pump, is the best long-term choice.
- New builds and extensions: pipe clipped to insulation, then screeded, is the most cost-effective option.
Wet winters, steady heat
The North West's mild, damp climate suits underfloor heating well: a warm floor dries out quickly and keeps the whole room comfortable at a lower air temperature than radiators need. With a heat pump, closer pipe centres (150mm) let the floor run at low, efficient flow temperatures. See pipe centres explained.
Supply only, or supply and install
- Supply only: Order by 12 noon for next working day delivery to most addresses in the North West. Delivery cost is shown at checkout.
- Supply and install: we arrange installation through our approved installers, with MaxHeatUFH technical support on every job. As a guide, labour is £20/m² + VAT for clip rail and pipe clipped to insulation in screed, and £25/m² + VAT for other systems, including electric. Send an installation enquiry with your floor plans and we'll confirm the price.
- Installers and builders: apply for a trade account for trade pricing on every order.
Grants
If you're fitting an air source heat pump, the government's Boiler Upgrade Scheme can help with the cost in England and Wales. Check the current grant amount and rules on GOV.UK before you budget.
