Birmingham's 1930s semis, Black Country terraces, the Potteries, and the rural counties of Shropshire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire all need different solutions. We supply complete underfloor heating systems across the West Midlands.
1930s semis and extensions
A large share of West Midlands homes are inter-war semis, many with a rear extension or a planned one. The usual approach is a screed system in the new extension slab and, if the original rooms are being renovated, a low-profile overlay over the existing floor so the levels match. Getting the build-up heights right before the floor is poured saves a lot of trouble later.
Rural homes and conversions
Shropshire and Herefordshire have many barns, farmhouses and cottages off the gas grid. A heat pump with in-screed underfloor heating at 150mm centres is a common and efficient pairing. Timber upper floors can take joisted floor systems.
Controls that make it easy
Every zone needs its own thermostat. We supply wired and wireless Heatmiser thermostats, with app control through a neoHub. See UFH thermostats explained.
Supply only, or supply and install
- Supply only: Order by 12 noon for next working day delivery to most addresses in the West Midlands. Delivery cost is shown at checkout.
- Supply and install: we arrange installation through our approved installers, with MaxHeatUFH technical support on every job. As a guide, labour is £20/m² + VAT for clip rail and pipe clipped to insulation in screed, and £25/m² + VAT for other systems, including electric. Send an installation enquiry with your floor plans and we'll confirm the price.
- Installers and builders: apply for a trade account for trade pricing on every order.
Grants
If you're fitting an air source heat pump, the government's Boiler Upgrade Scheme can help with the cost in England and Wales. Check the current grant amount and rules on GOV.UK before you budget.
