North London ground floor renovation: low-profile cement-faced overlay

MaxHeatDeck cement-faced overlay board build-up

In many London homes, every millimetre of floor height counts: doors, thresholds and kitchen plinths are already set. For this full ground floor renovation in North London, we supplied a low-profile overlay system that sits on top of the existing floor.

The system

  • Floor system: 20mm cement-faced XPS overlay boards
  • Pipe: 16mm PERT-EVOH pipe
  • Controls: Heatmiser neoAir wireless thermostat with app control

Why cement-faced overlay

A cement-faced board gives a hard, flat surface that tiles or flooring can go straight onto. It adds about 20mm plus the floor finish, compared with 65mm or more for a screed. The XPS core insulates below the pipe, so heat goes up into the room rather than into the old floor.
