Whole-house, multi-zone underfloor heating under LVT with Heatmiser neo

MaxHeatChip grooved chipboard underfloor heating

This whole-house project combined two floor build-ups, LVT flooring throughout and a mix of underfloor heating and radiators, all on one control system.

The system

  • Floor systems: MaxHeatChip grooved chipboard on the timber floors, and MaxHeatDeck 20mm cement-faced overlay boards elsewhere
  • Floor finish: LVT (luxury vinyl tile)
  • Controls: Heatmiser neo thermostats across multiple zones, with a neoHub for app control
  • Radiators: Heatmiser neoFlo smart TRVs on the study and bedroom radiators, on the same app

Underfloor heating under LVT

LVT works well over underfloor heating as long as the floor surface temperature stays within the flooring manufacturer's limit, typically 27°C. Floor-sensing thermostats keep it there. Both MaxHeatChip and MaxHeatDeck give the flat, rigid base that LVT needs.

One app for everything

With neo thermostats on the underfloor zones and neoFlo TRVs on the remaining radiators, every heated room is on the same neoHub. One check: some towel rails have valve connections that won't take a smart TRV, so check yours before ordering.
